For the twelfth consecutive year, the two-day meeting for adhesive engineers was held at Fraunhofer IFAM in Bremen at the beginning of this week. Due to growing success, this meeting has been held twice a year since recently; in June and October.
Prior to this, Makiba was once again part of the meeting of cooperation partners of Fraunhofer IFAM in the delivery of EWF-certified adhesive training. The latest developments regarding teaching materials and exam formats were discussed. Makiba also gave a presentation on the use of the newly developed PTFE adhesive molds for lap shear and roller peel test samples. This topic received considerable attention from both German and Chinese cooperation partners. In the coming months, the functionality of the adhesive molds will be further tested at IFAM in Bremen.
On the same day, the new Fraunhofer IFAM Kunststoff-Kompetenzzentrum was opened. This well-equipped training center of around 1,000 m2 is located within walking distance of IFAM and offers various equipment and tools for training in hand lay-up with all conceivable fiber types. The training program for 2014 consists of:
- DVS®-FVK-Verarbeiter (operative level)
- DVS®-FVK-Instandsetzer (operative level)
- DVS®-FVK-Fachkraft (management level)
Also in development is the training:
- DVS®-FVK-Ingenieur Makiba has shown interest in also conducting these training forms/personnel qualification in the Netherlands and Belgium.
The growth in activities at Fraunhofer IFAM in Bremen is so rapid that, in addition to the two main buildings and the Kunststoff-Kompetenzzentrum, construction of the next building has already begun. This will be accessible via a footbridge from the main building located on the other side of the road. This new building will also not be sufficient to accommodate IFAM's growing activities, so plans for the following building are already being developed.
