Today, on Friday 11-11-11, the new Carnival season was launched. On the market in Zevenbergen, at least 300 spectators witnessed a spectacular laser show and the unveiling of a special monument to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of Stichting Carnaval Zevenbergen. The monument, donated by the Loge der Oud-Prinsen, was designed by artist Ad Karremans and created through collaboration of several Zevenbergen businesses, including Verhoeven Staalconstructies, Heijligers Installatietechniek, SCZ, the Zuid-Nederlandse Bronbemaling and ... Makiba.
The monument (approximately 2.5 meters high) consists of a large Pee (parsnip) with a Knijn (rabbit) on top, who is reading Den Bult (Carnival newspaper). Initially, the whole structure was to be glued together. Ultimately, they decided to use recessed bolts instead, for aesthetic reasons. Gluing therefore had to make way for a conventional joining technique, except that the bolts were secured with anaerobic adhesive.
Nevertheless, it turned out to be a wonderful event for the unveiling of this equally magnificent Carnival monument.
