Adhesive Theme Day 2011 - Association of Materials Knowledge

Attended a well-organized congress today with about fifty other interested parties in Industrial Adhesive Technology. The catering at Tata Steel was excellent, as was the interesting site tour and visit to the Warmband rolling mill. In particular, the presentations by Twan, Anton and Rinus will remain memorable for the audience.

This presentation focuses on understanding the adhesion mechanisms of 1-component hot-curing adhesive systems to two specific types of coatings. Conventionally galvanized steel and Magizinc® coated steel. These coatings were developed to improve the corrosion resistance of automotive steel. This presentation covers the basic concept of a composite panel, the technology for the continuous manufacture of metal faced insulated building panels, on-site installation and end use examples of where metal faced insulated panels have been employed Torsten Beckert, Sales Manager BTR & Industry, Dinol GmbH Bonding and sealing in the railway industry High quality, reliability and cost efficiency of railway vehicles are requested, thus process stability and cost influencing factors, like cycle time reduction are gaining importance over time. The use of qualified bonding- and sealing processes as a preferred adhesive bonding technology in the train vehicle industry has thus increased drastically during the last decade. The logical consequences are the increasing requirements on the design, the production process and organisation of the vehicle producer. Norms and codes e.g. DIN 6701 are evolving, and setting unified standards in the industry.

The suppliers of bonding and sealing systems get deeply involved in issues of design, production and maintenance of the vehicles.
